QUALITY CONTROL OF BLADES AND CUTTING EDGES

During the regular quality control of multi-blade razors, random samples are taken from the total quantity of products produced, finally packaged and destined for the trade. The first step is a visual inspection of the products. For multi-blade shaving systems, the position of the blades in the cartridge is also measured. The cutting properties of the shaving systems are tested destructively. For this purpose, the individual blades are detached from the cartridge and examined in cutting processes with regard to their cutting ability.

• Visual inspection of the general manufacturing quality and documentation by microscopy videos.
• Analysis of visible product features, such as the manufacturing quality of sliding strips and guard bar
• Measurement of positions and locations of the blades in the cartridge by scanning with a confocal point sensor
• Evaluation of the optical measurements with application-specific inspection software
• Determination of angle and distance of the blades to the reference plane, span and perpendicular distance between the individual blades, the guardbar and the lubrication strip as well as curvature, tilt and straightness of the individual blade
